About Navilo

Navilo is an education transformation consultancy. We help organizations – corporations, universities, government bodies, and NGOs – design learning systems that produce measurable outcomes. Our work spans education strategy, skills architecture, learning experience design, workforce-education alignment, digital integration, and impact measurement.

Navilo was founded in 2025 by Michael Ouwerkerk, a practitioner with over a decade of experience designing learning systems for global enterprises, universities, and government agencies across multiple continents. Michael previously founded two other education ventures - Groundflr and Traverse - before launching Navilo as his most deliberate practice yet.

Navilo has practitioners across Africa and the Middle East, UK and EMEA, and the US and Americas. That spread gives us genuine reach across markets and time zones without the overhead of a large multinational firm.

No - by design. Navilo is a boutique practice: principal-led, with a curated network of senior associates brought in based on what each project specifically requires. You get the right specialist for the work - an instructional designer, an LMS architect, an evaluation expert - not whoever happens to be available on a generalist bench. The intake stays selective so every engagement gets full senior attention throughout.

Most engagements begin with a Discovery & Diagnosis phase (4-6 weeks) where we interview stakeholders, audit existing programs, and deliver a clear assessment of priorities. This is followed - if the client chooses - by a Strategy & Design phase (8-16 weeks) where we design and specify the solution. We also offer ongoing advisory retainers for clients who want regular senior counsel without a full project engagement.

The first step is a short discovery conversation - usually 30 to 45 minutes. There is no pitch and no hard sell. We listen to your challenge, ask the questions we need to understand context, and give you an honest assessment of whether we are the right fit. If we are, we will propose a scoping conversation. Services

Yes. Workforce-Education Alignment is one of our core service lines. We work with universities, colleges, TVET institutions, and industry bodies to close the gap between what employers need and what institutions are producing. This often involves facilitated co-design between employers and academic teams.

We believe AI tools are genuinely useful in learning – but only when the design thinking comes first. Our Digital & AI Integration service helps organizations assess which parts of their learning system benefit from AI-powered personalisation, automation, or content generation, and which parts still require human expertise. We help clients avoid the trap of buying technology before they've understood the problem.

Yes – this is what our Impact Measurement & ROI service addresses. We design evaluation frameworks that go beyond completion rates and satisfaction surveys to track performance improvement, capability growth, and business impact. We can do this as a standalone audit of an existing program, or build it into the design of a new one from day one.

Pricing & Process

We don't publish standard rates because no two engagements are alike. Pricing is scoped based on the complexity of the challenge, the seniority of the team required, and the duration of the engagement. We are transparent about pricing in every discovery conversation, and we don't proceed with a proposal until both parties agree the scope and budget are aligned.

A Discovery & Diagnosis engagement typically runs 4–6 weeks. A full Strategy & Design engagement is usually 8–16 weeks, depending on scope and complexity. Some clients move through both phases sequentially; others use the discovery output to scope a separate, larger project. We'll give you a clear timeline in our scoping proposal.

Yes. We have practitioners across Africa and the Middle East, UK and EMEA, and the US and Americas. Our client list spans multiple continents, and most of our work involves a mix of remote collaboration and in-person facilitation. We will propose the right balance based on what the project actually needs.
